Introduction

This item contains general information on the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Aruba used to be a part of the Netherlands Antilles, till 1986, when it obtained its autonomous status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Currently, constutitutional changes are in progress, aimed at Curacao and St. Maarten, obtaining a similar, independent status within the Kingdom. For information on these developments, click here.
