Welcome to Curacao Legal PortalThere is a large legal community in the Dutch Caribbean. Especially Curacao houses all kinds of legal institutions, lawyers and associations. However, until 2007 there was no website with general information about the legal system of Curacao, its institutions and its practitioners. Curacao Legal Portal, an initiative supported by the Court of Justice, the CIFA (Curacao International Financial Services Association), a number of local law firms and the University of the Netherlands Antilles, aims to fill this void. Besides this we provide the latest news, background information, a databank with laws and statutes and the agenda of the Court of Justice. We continuously try to expand the different fields on which information is offered and keep all the information duly updated. LATEST NEWS |
Curacao Legal Portal zal vanaf heden een serie interviews met bekende advocaten van de Nederlandse Antillen publiceren. Het eerste interview in deze serie is met Erich Zielinski.
Erich Zielinski, geboren op Bonaire, is sedert enkele decennia als advocaat op Curacao gevestigd en onder meer een van de oprichters van de Orde van Advocaten. Recentelijk heeft hij eveneens naam gemaakt als schrijver van literaire romans die zich veelal afspelen op de Antillen.
Curacao Legal Portal heeft de bekende Curaçaose tandarts Eric de Brabander bereid gevonden het interview met Erich Zielinski af te nemen.
Mijn meest spectaculaire zaak?
Nou Eric, ik zal met de deur in huis vallen. Dat moet de strafzaak tegen de bode van de Centrale Bank geweest zijn.
Erich Zielinski gaat er even gemakkelijk voor zitten. Hij is een grote krachtige man met een stentorstem, die hem in de rechtszaal goede diensten moet hebben bewezen.
A delegation of the Netherlands Antilles will go to Jamaica next week for further negotiations regarding a treaty to avoid double taxation between the two countries. A Jamaican delegation visited Curaçao in January regarding the so-called Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTTA).

Nog vijf weken te gaan tot aan het referendum van 15 mei 2009 op Curaçao. De strijd tussen JA en NEE is in volle omvang losgebarsten. De gemoederen lopen hoog op en de voorstanders van ieder der opties laten geen middel ongeroerd de burgerij op Curaçao voor hun kamp te winnen. Er staat immers een hoop op het spel: onze toekomst.
